If your item is not listed above, just ask and we will let you know if it is possible or not. Things to consider are small lettering/artwork, which can be tricky to embroider clearly.
The one-off set up fee is a minimal cost we charge that covers the cost of the digitising (see below) and any changes you would like to make to ensure your embroidery will be exactly the way YOU want it to be. Before we embroider, we always send you a sample first to approve colours, size etc.
The logo needs to be digitised to be made ready for use on the embroidery machine. This is not just changing it from one file format to another. We use the latest Wilcom Embroidery Software that basically converts your jpeg, gif or pdf image file that is in pixels to an image made from thread. These files are called .emb or .dst. This program plans out accurately how the thread will sew onto the item incl. all the thread changes, thread trims etc. There are different stitch types, stitch densities and lengths and stitch directions used for different purposes that go into making artwork look and embroider best (not pucker, pull etc.). The item material type, surface shape, and all sorts of things are taken into account.
Coast Imagewear focuses on quality not quantity. We will embroider or print one shirt or one-thousand shirts. One of the advantages of using Coast Imagewear for your embroidery or printing is that we can handle the large quantities but if you need a quick extra shirt we have a fast turnaround for any quantity. Please note that discounts do apply to bulk orders.
Yes, our embroidery machines are set up to embroider on hats or caps. The image cannot be higher than 5mm. Caps that you may have seen with images larger and closer to the brim are embroidered before they are made.
Yes, we can embroider badges for you. So that the border of the patch doesn’t fray, we offer a hot knife border, an overlocked border or a merrowed edge. Minimum quantities apply for merrowed edge. Click on the photo below for enlargement to clearly see the differences.
Embroidery cost is calculated on stitch count and heat transfer is calculated on size and the number of colours. We also take into account the quantities needed and offer discounts for large quantities. Phone us for a quote, you will be surprised!
Screenprinting is often used for larger quantities whereas heat transfer is a more affordable option for smaller quantities and different numbers or text (for example numbers on the back of sports shirts). You cannot iron over the heat transfer on shirts and it is not as long lasting as embroidery. However, heat transfer printing can provide very good detail in colour and design. Coast Imagewear use heat transfer printing as a great alternative when embroidery is not suitable.
We generally do not carry a lot of stock, but that has little impact on our rapid turn-around. We have catalogues and an online store catalogue where you can choose your items from and they will generally be delivered the next day or within 2 days. This helps us to function efficiently as a small scale business and to remain affordably priced, giving you fantastic value. We do keep a small range – a few varieties of shirts and other apparel (such as towels, cushions and standard polo shirts and hi-vis shirts) available on hand; but for larger choice and quantity we order your apparel in.
Yes we can decorate your own items but we take no responsibility for any damages occured during embroidery or print. Sometimes certain items are not suitable or easy to decorate and whilst we will always replace the decoration service free of charge we will not replace any items that have not been supplied by us.
